I recently discovered Leeds University Union Conservation Volunteers (LUUCV) at the Leeds University Volunteering Fair. This student-led group focuses on environmental conservation and offers a range of hands-on activities like tree planting, habitat restoration, and wildlife monitoring in and around Leeds. They provide students with a great opportunity to get involved in conservation volunteering while making a positive impact on the local environment.
What Does LUUCV Do?
LUUCV volunteers participate in various activities to protect and restore natural spaces, including:
- Tree Planting in Leeds: Supporting local green spaces and contributing to carbon offsetting efforts.
- Habitat Restoration: Improving local ecosystems and boosting biodiversity.
- Wildlife Surveys: Monitoring species to gather data for future conservation efforts.
- Community Clean-ups: Removing litter from parks and rivers to create cleaner, greener spaces.
Why Join?
Getting involved with LUUCV is a fantastic way to contribute to volunteering for sustainability while gaining practical skills in conservation work. Open to all students, LUUCV provides opportunities to develop teamwork, project management, and environmental stewardship skills, making it an excellent addition to your CV.
